Raindrop Story

By: William, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

“Oh, hi there.”  “My name is JohnnyMcMolecule.” “The story I’m about to tell you is quite long, so get comfortable.” “It all started when I was just a little molecule.” SPLASH SPLOSH all day long, a puddle in London, it was as wet as the ocean. “Mother?” I asked. “Yes dear?” Mother replied. “Do we have to stay here all the time?” I question. “No, today we have a surprise for you.” She answers. “Really!?” I say excitedly. “Yes.” Mother reassuringly. *But what I did not know was that something very crazy was about to happen.*
“Aaaaaaahhhh!” “Why am I turning invisible!?” I yell in fear. “Calm down.” Mother says. “We’re evaporating.” “Why did we do something wrong!?” I ask fearfully. “No, it’s because  of the sun’s heat.” “and soon we are going to turn into clouds.” Mother explained. “Oooohh….well all I want to know is why is it so cold?” I replied. “Well since water vapor rises quickly we are really high in the atmosphere.” “Ah! Whoa we are high!” I exclaimed. *A few minutes later other molecules started condensing and formed a cloud with us.* “Yes a Cumulus cloud my favorite one!” I yell. It had been 5 months since Johnny and his mother left London and now they were in a Cumulonimbus cloud and were ready to drop!
“Here we goooo......!” I scream as I fall out of the cloud. “Wait….this isn’t London…OH NOOOO….!” I yell still falling to Earth. *A moment later I slid down a long road hitting a building every time I tried to move, eventually I fell into a drain where I found a paper called “New York Times”.
Luckily my mother and a few others fell into the same drain. “Mother? Is this place called “New York”? “Yes.” She replied. “Oh and I have another question.” I say. “Why did we not land back in London?” “Well the 5 months we were in that cloud the wind pushed the cloud here.” Mother explained. *And that’s how I got here to tell you my story, and luckily it was short enough for us not to evaporate….oh! it’s happening again LETS GO!
Yet again evaporating into the atmosphere Johnny and his mother wait to form a cloud with other molecules, and when they did form a cloud it was a Stratus cloud. “Wow!” I say in astonishment. “This cloud looks big enough to cover an one mile radius!” and again they start their journey. It hadn’t been long since they left and were now in a Nimbostratus cloud.
This time before Johnny and his mother dropped they found themselves in a hurricane somewhere in California. The wind threw them around so much that they were separated and somehow found each other again *  I am still trying to figure out how though.* But not long after they landed they were swept away by a flood wave that ran rampid through the streets. A day later they started to evaporate again wondering what was coming next. This time had formed another cumulus cloud, and as always they would soon be a Cumulonimbus cloud. After 7 months of waiting they finally formed a Cumulonimbus cloud and were going to drop in a few minutes. Also during the 7 months went by Johnny made some new friends, their names were Harry Hailstone, Sean Sleet and Jerry Snow. They also had family with them, so my mother finally had someone to talk to. After a little bit they dropped into New York yet again. And while they were falling into New York they all made an incredible encounter! It was Godzilla!! He was acting in the 2014 version of Godzilla. “HI GODZILLA!!!!!” The 4 boys yell at the same time. “HELLO!!” Godzilla roars back. “CUT! Godzilla who are you talking to?” The director asked. “Myself.” Godzilla replied. “Ooops…” Say the 4 boys. “Wow! That was amazing to see a famous actor!” Johnny says to his friends. Just a few seconds later they can see all sorts of props flying around for the movie. “Wow….. I actually feel like I’m in a movie right now!” I yell. Eventually they all fell into a drain and kept talking and talking about how good the new Godzilla movie was going to be. They even thought that they might to get to see themselves in the movie! They thought this because well….. before they fell into the drain Godzilla was on the same path they were. That night minutes before they evaporated out of the movie scene Johnny made a wish that next time they turned into a type of precipitation they all got to meet another movie actor.

Raindrop Story

By: Skyler, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

“Huh?” “What’s going on?” “I didn’t do anything bad!” I complained. “What happened to just drifting softly?” I used to be a cloud, now I am falling into what looks like someone’s rain barrel. I look to see if I can find a familiar face. “John!” I yell. He is my best friend. To me he is as nice as a flower. “Crystal!” He screams. That is me, Crystal.
“What’s happening?” I asked him. “We are in the water cycle.” He stated. “Um, what’s that?” I questioned. I started getting nervous, I have never heard of that. “Precipitation, condensation, evaporation, any of that ring a bell?” Those last statements really helped calm me down. I think to myself for a while. “Are we supposed to fall instantly? That is what we did. Since we are falling as rain, does that mean we are precipitation? You told me that once.” “Yes I do remember telling you that and you are correct, we are precipitation.” He tells me. After a long while of falling, we land on a mountain that Humans call “Mount Everest.” I hit the ground, hard. All of a sudden all the air in me is taken out. I gasp for air, I finally manage to talk to John. “John, what’s happening?” I shouted. “It’s okay, we are runoff. That is one of the best stages.”
“What is runoff?” I mutter. I am getting old of this whole, water cycle thing.” It is where we wait to be collected by an ocean, river, or lake.” He responded. “I don’t understand why we have to go through all these stages and can’t just stay in one all our lives.” I complain. “If we didn’t go through these stages, eventually water in the ocean would be gone and that would not be good.” He replied. “Humans have to drink and if they can’t drink then there won’t be any left.” He explained. “I will tell you everything you need to know about each stage as we go through them.” He told me.
“What are we doing now?” I question. We have been in this pond for quite a while. I wonder why he hasn’t told me anything yet because… My sentence trails off as I see something. “Ahhh!” I scream as I see John start rising into the atmosphere and disappearing. “Oh yes, the same thing is happening to you as well. It is evaporation. We get so hot we turn into a gas called water vapor.” He states. “Is that when we are clouds? I love being a cloud!” I scream. I wonder if we are going to be a cloud soon. It was really hot when we started rising, then it became colder and colder and colder.
Like John said, I am most familiar with this stage. If you don’t remember at the beginning of the story I asked,” What happened to just drifting softly?” Once you rise higher into the atmosphere it gets colder and colder. You turn into one of the three types of clouds, Cirrus, Stratus or Cumulous clouds. John interrupts my though process. “You have been really quite lately, why?” “It is really cold and after going through all of these stages, I got used to it. Plus you calmed me down when you said we would become clouds again.” I replied. “Oh” He murmured. So I am back to being a cloud and drifting softly. I am glad to be back. I needed a rest from all that.
And now we start over and over through the water cycle. Like a game that never ends. That was my story. If you were wondering, yes this is what all water goes through. It is how the Earth recycles water. Well got to get back to falling. Hoped you learned from my story. Bye…

Raindrop Story

By: Shellby, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

“My friends and I were just lying on the surface of the aqua blue Atlantic Ocean when we heard a splat and then another than another. The sounds were as loud as claps of thunder! And the next thing we knew we were floating in the air like a flock of birds.”
“I have just realized we are in evaporation. Evaporation is when runoff turns into water vapor or as we call it gas. “I feel like I’m flying I said to myself.” “I know it feels weird!” replied Drippy. “It’s getting cold up here in the atmosphere.” I admitted. “Yeah it’s as cold as an ice cube up here!” stated Marshall. All of a sudden I attracted to a piece of dirt or as Marshall Calls it a “Particle’.  I don’t know how I got up here but I’m about to find out!”  I know what cycle we are in!” yelled Marshall. “Well… What cycle are we in?!” we all shouted back. “We are in the water cycle!” exclaimed Marshall. Yay! We all cheered. We are safe!”
“The next morning we all woke up, I looked down at my “legs.” They weren’t water anymore they were ice crystals or as we know it snowflakes! Then we dropped. “Aaahhh!” We all yelled in harmony. But then I glided softly to the ground. “What cycle was that?” I asked Marshall. “Precipitation” he said. Precipitation is when rain, snow, sleet or hail falls to the surface of the earth. “Wow that was amazing I wonder what the next stage will be like!
“ Oww! I complained as I lay on the point of a big smoky gray rock. “That hurt!” I am now a raindrop again not a snowflake. Marshall?.. Drippy?.. Are you on this big pointy rock too? I asked. “No” they answered back.” We are down here!” I looked down oh great now I’m slipping! “It’s okay” Marshall said. In a few minutes we will turn into runoff with the other raindrops! We will end up back in the Atlantic Ocean. But we won’t be on the coast of Florida anymore we will be on the coast of Africa! I guess we will meet new friends! We all said in excitement. A quick little drizzle of rain came in those few minutes and of course more raindrops came and then we all slid into the Atlantic Ocean like people on a water slide! Something was different though… Somebody was missing I knew it wasn’t Drippy because he was right next to me. Marshall I called out he didn’t answer Drippy Marshall is gone! We will probably never see him again! Unless we meet again in the next cycle. Well I hoped and so did Drippy.”
“We lay there on the see through Atlantic Ocean without Marshall. ’Wait… Drippy do you hear that? “Yeah I did!” he replied back. Marshall is that you?
We screamed. “Yes it is me!” he yelled back.” We are north of you!” we screamed. “Come over here!” “Okay on my way!” yelled.  Then it happened the cycle started over. “I wonder if this is going to be our whole life?” I said to Drippy.” Well you better enjoy it while you can!” he replied.
And then the cycle started over and over and over and we landed in new places every time! It was an amazing adventure! You should try it out some time soon!

Raindrop Story

By: Rachel, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

Whoosh!  I just flew through the sky.  Bam!  Ouch!  “I’m sorry, it’s not my fault the wind made me blow into you”, I exclaimed.  “I’m sorry I screamed at you, Rachel”, confessed Jessie.  “Wow, today the air up here above Hawaii is as blue as a sapphire!” remarked Jessie.  “I know, and the grass looks as green as an emerald”, I claimed.

“OMG!” I exclaimed.  “What!?” shouted Jessie.  “I-I-I’m turning into a-a-a liquid!” I replied.  “Wow, look I am too!” remarked Jessie.  “I wonder why we are doing this?” I mumbled.  “I can’t believe you guys”, said Kelsey,” you should know that there is a water cycle and this is the precipitation stage.” “ Oh, that makes sense because I just realized that because it got warmer our clouds started to melt and now we are raindrops”, declared Jessie.  “Yeah that is understandable I guess!” I announced. “We are also falling through the atmosphere, and our clouds did not melt, they became less dense.” Reported Kelsey.  Kerplunk! I just hit the Earth’s surface at top speed!  Ouch!  Ow! “Ow, that really hurt!” I complained.  “I know, I totally agree!” agreed Jessie.  “Jeez, you guys are such big babies, get used to it, sometimes the water cycle hurts!” retorted Kelsey.

“Well Kelsey, what are we now?” questioned Jessie.  “We are runoff”, reported Kelsey.  “Ok, so let me get this straight, after we fall down to Earth as rain, we turn into a liquid that flows across the land while gravity pulls us downhill, right?” I questioned.  “Yes”, replied Kelsey.  “I know something, its 10:00 at night so I think we should go to bed now.” grumbled Jessie.  “I agree, we should totally go to bed now.” I responded. “Good night!” murmured Kelsey. I was awakened by some pain in my back. “Ow,Ow,Ow!” I complained. We were tumbling into a bunch of rocks. “Oh, no!” screamed Jessie.  She was getting absorbed into a plants leaves. “I’m sorry, I can’t help you!” I replied.  Oh My Gosh!!  “I am getting absorbed into a plant too!” I complained.  “Oh cool, this is fun!” Kelsey declared. “Wow, it’s really weird in here!” I claimed. Nobody answered me.  “Hello?” I asked.  Silence.  Oh no now I’m all alone!  Wow this is cool. I-I think I’m floating to the top of this plant.  I wonder if I’ll ever see Jessie or Kelsey again!?

“I believe I can fly!” I exclaimed.  Oh yeah, I’m all alone.  I feel the air outside again.  Will I ever find Kelsey or Jessie in this weather?  “Rachel!!” someone screamed.  “Yes?” I replied.  “It’s me, Jessie!” Jessie claimed.  “Jessie!” I screamed.  “I can’t see you!” Jessie complained.  “I know, I think it’s because we got released out of the leaves of the plant, so now we are floating up into the atmosphere.” I explained.  “We are in evaporation, and most of the people up here got heated up in a body of water and now we are floating upwards.” Someone reported.  “KELSEY!!” Jessie and I screamed.  “I know, I know you thought you would never find me.” Kelsey muttered.  “Brr…it’s starting to get kind of cold up here.” I grumbled.  “Yeah, it is!” Jessie agreed.

“Brr... it’s getting even colder up here!” I exclaimed.  “Yeah, and it’s very humid up here.” Jessie said. Then we started to turn into a water droplet and clump together.  “I think this is a cumulus cloud.” I explained.  “Yeah, me to because we are also in the

Troposphere.” Jessie agreed.  “Yes, you are both right. A cloud forms when water vapor turns into water and then the water molecules all clump together and form a cloud.” explained Kelsey.  “Okay then, so smarty what is this stage in the water cycle called?” I questioned.  “This is condensation because we condensed into a cloud.” reported Kelsey.

“I feel as graceful as a swan, just floating all around.” announced Jessie.  “Yes it is very relaxing up here, just don’t look down!” I replied.  All of a sudden it started getting very warm up in the clouds.  “Oh no! We are starting to fall as rain again!” I groaned.  Then we started falling.  “Wait we aren’t rain this time we are like, slush?” I questioned.  “Yes, we are falling as sleet though.  There are 4 types of precipitation we can fall as- rain, snow, sleet, or hail.” Kelsey reported.  “That is very fascinating.” I replied.  So then our journey started again.

                                                                   THE END!!

Rain Drop Story

By: Peyton, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

Hello my name is Peyton Sparks. I’m a water particle in Little Pigeon River in the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. I live in the river with my friends Andrew, Jacob, Juan, Autum, Jaedyn, Ross, Skyler, Eric, Kortney, and Josalynn. The stream is as clear as glass. Now this is my story of how I went through my first water cycle.
So as I told you I live in a stream. It started raining hard the water was getting higher and higher. This has never happened before I felt petrified as all of this was going on right in front of my eyes. I looked at my friends they too looked frightened. Then I started getting tossed and turned through the rapid water. The scenery was flying past me. “Guys what’s happening! “yelled Skyler at the top of her lungs. “I don’t know but this is scary! “yelled Jacob who was now panicking. “Roller coaster ride” screamed Andrew raising his hands in the air. I looked around at the scenery. There was really tall things in the sky but they weren’t trees. They were shiny too. There were people too, but I have never seen so many in one place before. I wondered “Why were there so many in one place also what were those really tall shiny things? “. There was a rock in the middle of us and when we hit it the water between me and my friends got hit. When it did I got blasted back I landed in a random puddle. “Guys where are you!“ I called it was night now I looked around. I just realized I was all alone.
I started panicking. I looked around even more hoping to find a trace of my missing friends. Suddenly I heard a voice say “Hello Dear are you okay?” the voice asked ever so calmly. I spun around to confront the voice I met face to face with a man that had brown hair and blue eyes “Who are you? “  I inquired the man “I’m John and you are?” he said replying to me “I’m Peyton.” I said. “Well Peyton I see you just started up your first water cycle and before you ask yes I’m going to tell you what the water cycle is and teach you about all the different phases of it.” He then started laughing at my expression which at the moment was confusion. Once he stopped laughing he then started to tell me about it all. “The stage you just went through was run-off next is evaporation.” He explained. “What’s that?” I asked “That is when the suns heat shines down on us and we become water vapor.” He explained to me. “What’s water vapor?” I asked. “Water vapor is a type of gas.” He answered. “Look!” he exclaimed. “It’s happening right now!” Suddenly I felt as light as a feather. I looked down my feet were gone! Instead replacing them was a wisp like you see on a ghost. “Is this normal!?” I yelled at John “Yup.” He said smiling as him and I started floating  into the air. “Wow.” I thought “Where are we now?” I asked still looking around amazed by everything I was seeing. “Were in the atmosphere.” He said answering my question. I already knew what the atmosphere was so I didn’t ask about that. “What’s going to happen now?” I asked “Or do we stay here forever?” “No that doesn’t happen the next thing that happens in the water cycle is condensation.” He explained “So what is condensation?” I asked “Condensation is when all the raindrops that got evaporated all come together and because it gets colder here the farther you go up we clump together and become this thing called a cloud.” He explained to me. “Okay.” I paused then asked another question. “So when will it start?” “Soon” he answered. “I can’t wait.” I thought as John and I were still floating through the atmosphere.
When it started getting cold John and I were shaking really bad. We saw some other water vapor shaking like us from the cold. I looked around in that group of water vapor still no sign of my friends. More water vapor started getting closer to us and as John said we all started piling up together. Then we all started floating together. There were white fluffy walls that acted like a barricade keeping us all inside. I was getting warmer until I was sweating. “I don’t like this at all!” I exclaimed miserably. “It’s not my favorite part of the water cycle either for most water vapor it isn’t. He mumbled. I looked down to see my wisp but I had feet and legs again. “Oh no!” he basically whispered. He was looking down at his legs and feet with a look a of fear on his face. “What!?” I asked. “We are water particles again and soon will be in a phase of the water cycle that as worse as this it is horrible!” he groaned. “What is it?” I asked. “Precipitation” he said with that look of fear still engraved on his face.
“Precipitation?” I asked concern on what this phase of the water cycle was all about. John still had the look of fear on his face as he explained to me what precipitation was. “Precipitation is when the cloud were in gets heavy and we fall out of it because we all aren’t the weightless water vapor we used to be we are now water particles and when we fall out of the sky there are 4 different type of precipitation we could fall out of as . There is hail, rain, sleet and snow.” “Oh.” I said those were the only words I could muster at the moment. Then suddenly fear started to creep into my heart like a thief in the dead of the night. I, Peyton Sparks was going to fall out of the sky, yay. It was a little bit that we waited for it to happen but it happened so quickly all I heard was BOOM!!!!! And John and I were free- falling through the sky. I, obviously started screaming my head off. Then I heard a SPLAT!!! And some sudden pain but it went away quickly. John and I had landed in a river, my river. We had landed in Little Pigeon River, yes home sweet home. Then I felt  a hand on my shoulder while John went exploring, my friends “Guys!!!” I accidently screamed in their faces. “Okay then.” Jacob said trying to dismiss the fact that I had screamed in their faces. Eric then screamed in my face for revenge I suppose. But it didn’t matter I was back home with my friends.
So yeah it has been two weeks since we have been home done with the water cycle. John says in a couple more days the water cycle will happen again for us. But I really don’t care because I’m enjoying the fact that I’m home with my friends. So that was my story of my first water cycle. It really isn’t that scary when you know about. Maybe just maybe I’ll make another story. Anyway I’m off  to prepare for my next water cycle. I want to bring some comforts with me on my next water cycle it will make it more enjoyable, Goodbye now my dear reader of my story.

A Real Rain Drop Story

By: Nathan, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

‘’Ahhhhhhhhhhhh’’ I scream, I’m falling to my death like a pebble off a cliff .I don’t know how all this started but my names Spark. I’m always getting into situations but not this bad. I keep falling faster and faster screaming for my life. Before I hit a mountain my whole life flashes before me. I guess while stuck in space and time I may as well tell you how this all started. ‘’What did I do to deserve this? ‘’but then I hear a crash!
‘’Ahhhh this is the life.’’ I say floating on a bubble in the Atlantic Ocean. The sky is dim the ocean is warm and I’m with my friends and family.’’ I’m  going home.’’ I tell everyone ‘’See you later Spark and don’t get caught by precipitation!’’ teases Joey he is always telling steam or ghost tales about a curse called precipitation. It makes you disappear and fly away. I wonder if I should swim or take a fish or take a fish when suddenly my hand disappears. ’’Huh’’ I wonder when my arm disappears!
After I lose my arm to I don’t even know what I start to panic! ’’Help me!’’ I scream running around in circles. Then I start to feel woozy the last thing I remember is my arms and legs vanishing. ‘’Ahhhhhh mom I had the most crazy nightmare ‘’ I hear no reply. ‘’Mom?’ ‘’Nihow!’’ I hear someone say then I see a young Chinese raindrop. ’’Hello where am I ?’’ I ask. ‘’You are in evaporation’’ she replied in her best English. then I look up and see a big grey Cumulonimbus cloud.
As I keep floating upwards I notice two things: I am just a head and the air up in the atmosphere is cold! The Chinese raindrop has left and I am sick from tossing and turning. I feel like I’m about to freeze when I hear someone call my name. “Spark over here!’’. When I turn around I see a big zigzag cirrus cloud and in it is my old buddy frosty! I float over and talk with him. Frosty is a ice crystal with bright eyes and a big smile. ”Frosty where are we!?”I ask. “why you just got done with evaporation this is condensation!”

“Conde-what now!” I reply confused. ”Condensation  remember in school we  learned that the sun gives us heat and we evaporate then we condense!” “Okay when I’m millions of feet in the air and feel like I’m in school I draw a line.” I joked. But soon me and Frosty started to separate “See you back home!” he calls out a few minutes later I start falling “Weeeeeeeee!” until I see a cliff under me gulp I got my body back and formed a raindrop but I don’t think it matters now!

“Ahhhhhhhhh!” I scream rather horrified. Im falling to my death like a pebble falling off a cliff. I keep falling faster and faster. Then I hear a crash, ouch but there’s no time to complain because Im sliding down the mountain. Bump Bump Bump that’s all I hear until I close my eyes and pray for a miracle… then I hear a splash. “Hurray!” Everyone was cherring then I stop and notice… I just survived the water cycle!
I was so happy I thought I was going to explode. “We landed in a river!” everyone cheers. But then I see him his bright eyes and warm smile “Frosty!” “Spark!” we run to each other and hug but when he tells me we were only a few miles from home I hugged tighter. Soon after a lot of walking we get home. “MOM!”. “What happened she asks “It’s a long story I tell her but then I see him, my little brother tony flying towards the sun “Hi big brother who’s taller now?”

Hi my name is Kawika I am a rain drop starting in precipitation in Hawaii hey stop pushing me ow no please don’t hit me or clolid. oow ah ouch that heart where are we Andrew where on the ground now Kawika stop pushing me now were all in runoff. Andrew yeah runoff is where you start moving in till you find a river or an ocean hay Kawika we got in a river cool I. said Andrew yeah Kawika don’t you feel a little hot yeah Kawika do you think were evaporating yes I do its hot as lava in here.
Andrew yes Kawika what’s evaporation it is where Kawika you get hot and the sun warms you up and makes you a gas. Kawika yes Andrew I feel a little different what do you mean I mean that I feel like I’m disappearing Andrew yes Kawika your Arm is gone. wow man I’m freaking out help me Kawika now I’m evaporating Andrew don’t leave me down hear Hu now I’m disappearing cool Andrew do you think. Its a little cold up hears yeah I feel a little bit I think were in condensation what condensation Kawika condensation is. Is where you connect to dust particles and make a cloud that’s what we? Just did to make a cumulus cloud that the end of my story.

A Raindrop Adventure

By: Josalynn, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

“Good Morning!” Ma spoke softly to me this morning. To me her voice sounded like bubbles in the ocean. Oh, where are my manners? I’m Makaela Snow. I live in Antanarivo, Madagascar. Antanarivo is on the northeast coast of Madagascar. I live in a straw house with my mom, dad, and my annoying brother. Well, it’s time for me to go  to the academy. My teacher is Mrs. Raini. I am in the 7th  grade. She told us about the water cycle. The water cycle is the cycle water takes  to become precipitation. These are the 4 stages :

    1: Evaporation

    2: Condensation

    3: Precipitation

    4: Runoff

But we are talking about evaporation.  Evaporation   is when   tiny  droplets  of  water rise into the Troposphere.  The water drops condense  into water vapor.   Water vapor is water in   a vaporous  form especially  when  below  boiling temperature and diffused.  Suddenly,  I was being lifted up!!!  And I have to admit I was as scared as a cat is of water .  Brrrrr…..  It’s c-c-c-c-c-cold rising u-u-u-p  into th-th-the  atmosphere.. “Hello?”  a mysterious voice says awkwardly aloud to me.  The   mysterious voice brung me back to reality. “ Who are you?’’  I ask.   She  says “ My name is Malala.”  I tell her my name and ask  where we are going. But,  she  doesn’t   answer.  I wonder where she went .   AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
Malala ?”   I yell.     Where  are  you?”   I say aloud..     “Makaela!  Help me!”  Malala cried.  I respond by  yelling,  “ What’s wrong Malala?”.   “ Where a-a-a-are you ?” she speaks eerily. I say I’m right nearby and I could  use her voice as a guide.  Suddenly, I hear a loud high pitch scream that sounds like………….Malala! “ I’m  hurrying Malala!” I yell unknowingly. I pull  Malala into a warm hug.” We must be in the condensation stage.” She tells me unwary of her surroundings. I say, “Condensation?  Isn’t that when water runs on the surface?”. She snaps “NO! It is when water clumps around a nucleus made of dust and other particles in the  trophospere.”

Raindrop Story

By: Jaedyn, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

Have you ever fallen from the sky before? Because  I  have  and  it  hurts  worse  than  being  hit  than  a  fast  moving  train. My name is Jaedyn   by the way. Let  me  tell  you  the  time  I  fell  from  the  sky  and  learned  the  water cycle. This is my story.
Imagine me living in the Bahamas on a mountain. This  happened  right  before  the  annual  sliding  festival,  chosen  members  of  our  civilization  slide  down  our  mountain  into  the  great  pond. My  friend  Gary  says  the  “scientifical”  name  for  it is  runoff. “It’s the movement of water droplets sliding downward after precipitation “he mocks. Gary and  I  were  playing  baseball  on  top  of  the  mountain  when  I  hit  a  homerun  and  the  ball  rolled  down  the  hill. I  went  to  go  get  the  ball but  I  ended  up  falling  into  the  pond  with  no  way  out. “I  just  fell  into  the  great  pond, I  just  became  part  of  the  festival, I’m  now  called  runoff!
Over  my  panicking  I  couldn’t  hear  a  word  except  Gary  yelling  at  me  from  the  side-lines “Are  you  ok?” Which  I  soon  realized  that  he  is  right  there  beside  me.”Why did you jump in? “I stammered “You’re not getting evaporated without me.” “Evapa-whated?’  I  stammered, You  know  nothing  about  the  water cycle  do  you, have  you  been  sleeping  in  class  again? “That’s beside the point now what evaporation is.” It’s  were  the  sun  heats  up  the  surface  of  the  water  and  it  evaporates, dud” he  told “And  once  that’s  done-“ “boooooring”I  moaned. Hey  dude  what’s  happening I  feel  like  I’m  being  barbecued. Gary… where  did  the  ground  go, after  my  words  I  feel  faint.  The  last  thing  I  remember  seeing  is  Gary  flailing  his  arms  then…darkness.
Wake up sandman, you have to see this! I  pry  my  eyes  open  to  see  Gary  standing  over  me  yelling  again. “Wake  up” I’m  up, I’m  up  are  we  still  flying? Yeah  why, if  you  faint  again  I’ll  push  you  down  so  hard  that  you’ll  probably  splat  onto  my  house! “Don’t you touch me get away” I yelped “I was joking. “He explained “Stay five feet away from me! “I shrieked “Exactly where are we going again? “I  asked  if  you’d  listen  to  me  you  would  know. Prepare  to  get  bashed  and  bruised  because  when  we  become  a  cloud  all  the  water –droplets, that’s  us  are  now   get  stuck  to  each other  and  become  a  cloud(without  them  knowing  they  were  stuffed  into  clouds  during  their  conversation)dude, I’m  getting  really  cold… why  can’t  I  move. Then we started to drift down “who’s a pretty snowflake? You are, yes you are.” He mocked “Gary what’s happening to us? Now I know you’ve been sleeping in class.” Where  now  in  precipitation, the  water  droplets  have  now  turned  into  four  different  stages. Rain, sleet, snow  or  hail  then  once  we  fall to  earth  and  become  runoff, transpiration or-“ Then  Gary  was  gone  again!”

Raindrop Story

By: Emilee, Mrs. Seely's 5th Grade Class

Hi I’m Phoebe, and I’m a raindrop. I’m sitting on a nice, fluffy cloud above Hawaii in the sunshine. The sunshine is as bright as a flashlight. My friend Freddy says “I’m so excited for the big wiki teki celebration tonight!” I respond “I’m excited  too!” “I hope they do the flames throwing this year.” Then out of nowhere “AHH” I hear everyone screaming and I notice we’re falling out if the sky.

“SLAT” I hit the ground. I heard people moaning and groaning. I looked around and noticed Freddy was no longer. “curse precipitation” I yelled in case  you didn’t know is its another word for rain fall that’s all. There are four different forms of precipitation rain, sleet, snow and hail. Now I start to look around again. Then out of nowhere I hear someone say “ over here hey help “ and I look but don’t see anyone so I just let it go. I hear the voice again and I notice its Freddy and he is fine. And we lay on the ground for about a week. One day out of the week as night was coming upon us we noticed that we were the only raindrop and what if nobody survived me and Freddy looked at each other and both said at the same time “ we are so lucky” and then we laughed “hahaha. Me and Freddy got tired and went to sleep. That next morning we started walking to find a place to stay.

After walking for about a week later me and Freddy were just laying out of nowhere a heavy wind started to blow and it blew me and Freddy away. “whoa”I heard Freddy moaning. I looked around and I saw Freddy blowing in a different direction then me. After a while the wind stopped and I became night time and I gew exhausted.

Raindrop

SPLAT! I hit the ground hard, or at least I think it’s the ground. I’ve felt the ground before, and it feels nothing like this. The ground feels rocky, like a rocky planet. Now this feels like a smooth glass window. I guess the girl beside me saw the confused and scared look on my face because she said “Its ok, we’re just in a glass tube called a rain gauge” .I thought to myself for a moment. In my mind I say, well I hope she is right. Then I think, hey she looks pretty nice. I wonder what her name is. Then I ask “What’s your name?” “My name is Bethany but you can call me Beth” she replies. “Hey do you know what’s going on?” I ask.  “Yes, we were just precipitating” says Beth. I start to look around, but all of a sudden Beth and I were pulled up and out of the rain gauge. Then I hit the ground and I’m out like a nightlight.

I wake up to Beth shaking me awake. And I’m in some sort of hallway. It’s really tall and wide. I look around and I notice it’s not raining people anymore. Instead people are floating down the hallway and into a big room I try to see inside the big room but Beth calls me and I don’t get a chance see inside. She starts to swim over to me and while she’s coming toward me she shouts “hey u never told me you name!” I start to say “oh my name, my name is…..”I stopped speaking when all of a sudden I watched in horror as Beth was forcefully pulled into the big room and then, before she completely went in the room, she screamed for me to help her but I just stayed frozen in my spot. I wanted to help her but my molecules would not move. I hear her call for help, then, she's gone. ”I hope I will see her again” I say to myself but before I knew it I was pulled in too.

I look around the corner and there, at the top, I see Beth looking around for me. I swim up to her and tell her hi.” My goodness, you scared me!” Beth says. The next thing that happens scares me. Beth starts to turn into little molecules and she floats up and out of the water and onto the air. Then I am lifted  into the air also.  I get scared for a second but Beth tells me it will be okay. So I feel a little better.

Fall

By: Megan, Mrs. Reid's 3rd Grade Class

There are four seasons in a year.  I am going to tell you about fall.  There is colder weather, many holidays, and sports.  There are holidays in fall Halloween, Columbus Day, and Thanksgiving.  My mom’s birthday is on October the 29th, Veterans Day is celebrated in September.  There are festivals celebrated in fall like the Mullet Festival, there are also hayrides like the haunted hayride and just fun hayrides, trick-or-treating or trunk-or-treating is where there is a tree trunk with candy under it and people are in costumes at church but not scary costumes.  There are evening parties, evening school festivals.  The Mullet Festival is where there are a lot of floats.
In fall we have food and drinks.  These are some of the drinks and foods: apple cider, turkey, and pumpkin pie.  On Thanksgiving we also have a feast; we have coleslaw, potato salad, eggs, Jello with fruit, and beans.  Then we have desserts like chocolate cake.  Then we all go home.  Then we all are sleepy.
Now I am going to tell you about weather.  In the fall season there are different weather changes. When it is colder you have to wear warm clothes like jackets and long sleeve shirts and jeans. You also can jump in leaves once you rake them. I also make hot cocoa because it’s getting colder. There’s also days that are warm and not warm.  This fall we saw the Lunar Eclipse. My favorite thing about the Lunar Eclipse is that it is pretty. Some people get sick because it gets cold.
Lastly, some things we do in the fall are celebrate all sorts of holidays and festivals. There are many types of things in different holiday festivals all over the world for different seasons. People do things differently for fall than us. Their weather is different. I don’t know what other countries do to celebrate fall but people celebrate in different ways.

There are four seasons in a year. I am going to tell you about the fall season. There is colder weather, many holidays and festivals, as well as different kinds of foods and drinks.
In fall there are a lot of festivals. Here are some of them. There are church festivals and school festivals around Halloween time.  The Mullet Festival is also in the fall. We trick-or-treat and trunk-or-treat to celebrate Halloween. There are many hayrides to go on. We wear costumes. Those are some of the fall festivals.
Weather in October starts to get cold. You should wear warm clothes. The leaves start to fall and grass starts to die. I like to rake leaves into a pile and them jump into them. In October a lot of animals start to hibernate because it gets cold. People also stop hunting and kids stopping playing outside as much. It gets so cold it can frost in October.
In fall there are a lot of holidays. Some are in the beginning of the season like Veterans Day and the Lunar Eclipse. Other holidays are in the middle like Columbus Day and Halloween. There is also the holiday of Thanksgiving. There are many holidays in the fall.
In fall there are a lot of foods and drinks that people have. They can be different from other seasons. Here are some of the foods and drinks. There is turkey, pumpkin pie, candy and others. Some eat ham and apple pie. All of those things together can make a feast.  Now you know some more about fall.
